Whether I'm running my own research projects or managing a team doing research, I always follow a consistent process to ensure the research is built on a solid foundation, with clear objectives, in order to deliver insightful and actionable results.

Goal

Identify/understand research need(s), project constraints (e.g., timing, budget, etc.), assumptions/hypotheses, intended use for learnings, participant requirements, and consolidate all existing data and insights.

Action

To help teams understand the full customer experience and see the similarities across products, 5 generative research activities were completed on the onboarding experience as a first step. â€‹
 

Outcome

  • 60% reduction in employee effort per onboarding event. â€‹â€‹

  • 8% increase in annual revenue ($200M)

Determine if deposit limits and fund holds are barriers to using mobile check deposit (MCD) functionality. â€‹
 

Action

Created and launched an 18-question survey that explored current U.S. Bank customers' MCD habits and feedback.​

  • App performance & ease of use more important than limits/holds​​

  • Product roadmap shifted to prioritize feature awareness and performance/ease of use improvements.
